It was an especially wild rollercoaster ride for the usually steady U.S. leveraged loan market in 2020. The S&P/LSTA Leveraged Loan Index gained 0.77% in the first seven weeks of the year, followed by an unprecedented 20.7% loss in the four weeks from Feb. 23 through March 23, at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
