Credit agreements typically contain maintenance or incurrence covenants that require a borrower to meet certain financial ratios and metrics. What happens when the accounting standard changes in ways that can have a meaningful impact on these financial metrics? Currently, companies are dealing with several significant revisions to the GAAP accounting standard, namely in the areas of revenue recognition and lease accounting.
