Over the last several years, managers of directly originated and negotiated loans have flocked to business development companies, or BDCs, as their main investment vehicle of choice. We have assembled a group of industry leaders in the BDC space who will give us a primer on BDCs, followed by a deep dive into the world of BDCs, including the following topics:

  • the three different types of BDCs (listed BDCs, non-traded, publicly offered BDCs and private BDCs) and the pros and cons of each;
  • the reasons why managers of directly originated and negotiated loans favor the use of BDCs over other investment vehicles;
  • the benefits of the BDC structure to investors in directly originated and negotiated loans;
  • the current status of the BDC space in terms of numbers, capital raised and access to diversified sources of capital; and
  • the latest hot trends and innovations in the BDC space.
