September 14, 2023 - Today the Institut Climat International (iCI) released a Guide to Carbon Footprint Measurement specifically designed to assist private companies and their lenders. The Guide was developed by the iCI’s Private Credit Working Group, co-chaired by ICG and Oak Hill Advisors, with the objective “to promote the measurement of GHG emissions, thus improving the transparency of decision-useful climate-related disclosures that too few companies currently produce.” The Guide has been supported by a number of organizations, including the LSTA and PRI, ELFA, LMA and APLMA. Offering tools such as this reference guide to assist borrowers in navigating how to build the reporting capacity to cover GHG emissions is critical. Information about the carbon footprint of investments is being demanded by many investors, however, quantitative information is largely lacking for private companies. The availability of this Guide facilitates company reporting through the ESG Integrated Disclosure Project which is highlighted in the Guide.
