January 27, 2023 - On Thursday, the LSTA held its Annual Membership Meeting and voted in the 2023 Board of Directors. LSTA Executive Director Lee Shaiman kicked off the proceedings, reminding members of the mission: “To promote a fair, orderly, efficient, and growing loan market and to provide leadership in balancing the interests of all market participants in the furtherance of those goals.” This mission faces new challenges every day, from an SEC issuing a constant stream of new rules, to the end of LIBOR, to ESG developments (and political battles), to legal disputes over loans as securities. But the LSTA responds with information, education and advocacy, seeking consensus between our members, as well as between our members and parties that are seemingly adverse to the loan market. We will be helped by the LSTA’s new board in all these ventures.

The LSTA membership voted in five experienced loan professionals that are new to the LSTA board, but certainly not new to the market. They include Mohamed Basra (Voya), Ralph Hinckley (Morgan Stanley Asset Management), David Mechlin (CSAM), Valerie Kritsberg (Blackstone) and Charlie Towers (RBC Capital Markets). Retiring from the board are Judith Fishlow Minter, Jeff Bakalar, Andrew Sveen, John Popp and Alex Spiro. We thank them for their years of service and insight!
